Introduction
President of India Shri Draupadi Murmu on Thursday made a very important announcement regarding the Ayushman Bharat Scheme at Joint session of the Parliament in New Delhi.
Ayushman Bharat Scheme or Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is scheme that provides insurance to the lower income groups of the country. This scheme was started by the central government for the welfare of the poor people.

How will it help the People of India?
The President stated that under the (AB-PMJAY) 55 crore beneficiaries are directly being provided with health services for free. Shrimati Draupadi Murmu also announced opening of 25,000 Jan Aushoudhi Kendra throughout the country at a very fast pace. The biggest announcement done was that citizens over 70 years of age will have also be benefiting from the Ayushman Bharat Scheme where they’ll the get free medical treatment at the government’s expense.
The president also promoted AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy). She also stressed on India’s helping hand to the world while COVID-19 pandemic. She indirectly assured that India will stand in every problem with the people of the world may what the circumstances are.
Conclusion
Ayushman Bharat Scheme will help the country with improving the hygiene standard of the country. It will also help the people from lower income groups to afford medication and health services at an ease. But, the main benefit is held by senior citizens of the country as they will receive free health services by the Government of India. India is looking forward to improve the health infrastructure and is taking steps to reach everyone in the population via this scheme.
