Principal of the college, Dr. Minu B. Madlani said, “We had received a threat through email . I had reported to VP Police Station and to my management.”
“In response, the police, accompanied by a bomb squad, conducted a thorough investigation and determined the threat to be a hoax. “Everyone is safe,” she added.
In reference to the evacuation process, Madlani clarified that all morning lessons were canceled out of caution and that students were evacuated right away.
Why is this happening?
This isn’t the first time that we are coming across the news of a bomb threat. In the past, these hoax calls have proved to be a constant menace, muddling with people’s daily lives. Many establishments, including hotels, airports, colleges, and schools around India, received a large number of bomb threats in the form of hoax emails and calls between late April and early May 2024; threatening to ‘blow up’ these places. The majority of these attacks were directed towards organizations located in Delhi with more than 200 bomb threats in the may month alone.
Numerous colleges and schools in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh have previously been the target of threats similar to this one. Roughly 100 schools and 15 institutions in Delhi and Noida received threatening emails alerting them to potential bomb attacks in May alone.
Despite being proved to be fakes by further investigations, these occurrences caused considerable anxiety and disturbance.
