Earlier in the day, Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently free on temporary bail set by the Supreme Court till June 1, announced that he would launch a nationwide campaign to combat “dictatorship” In addition, he would participate in a roadshow in the East Delhi constituency to back Kuldeep Kumar, an AAP candidate.

Arvind Kejriwal: Interim Release from Tihar Jail

On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal intensified his criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during his second roadshow in New Delhi following his release from prison. Arvind Kejriwal stated, speaking to people in the nation’s capital, “God has brought him out of jail to defeat BJP.”

He further stated, “I have come straight to you after being released from jail. I missed Delhi people a lot. I want to thank crores of people who prayed and sent blessings to me,” he said.  Recalling his days in jail, he said his wife Sunita, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his ministers used to come to meet him.

“I used to ask my ministers about the welfare of people while in jail. During my stay in jail, I used to think what is my fault that I was arrested. My fault was that I provided good schools and hospitals for people. I provided health facilities to people. They (BJP) stopped my insulin for 15 days in jail. “They want to shut everything to paralyse the Delhi government”

On Friday, Arvind Kejriwal left Tihar jail after being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court to run in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Arvind Kejriwal’s bail was subject to stringent restrictions by the apex court, and it was decided that the Chief Minister of Delhi must appear before the Tihar jail officials on June 2.

In support of party candidate Sahi Ram Pehalwan, AAP volunteers marched behind the car through the alleyways of Mehrauli, South Delhi, waving party flags and yelling slogans.

  • Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann conducted their second massive roadshow in Delhi. The party’s candidate for the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat, Somnath Bharti, was the focus of the Sunday roadshow at Moti Nagar, West Delhi.
  • Amidst applauding cries from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members, Arvind Kejriwal declared that he would not return to jail following his 20-day sentence.
  • Amidst cries of “nahi jayenge, nahi jayenge” from his supporters, he addressed them and remarked, “These people are saying I will have to go back to jail after 20 days.”
  • “If you press the jhaadu button the maximum, I will not have to go back to jail. You have the power,” Arvind Kejriwal added. 
  • Speaking to his supporters in front of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Arvind Kejriwal said that his imprisonment was a result of his employment for the Delhi government.
  • The chief minister of Delhi took a jab at the BJP, stating that the ‘saffron party’ seeks to halt the work being done for the citizens of Delhi.
  • “If I went back to jail, the BJP would stop your work, free electricity, degrade schools and shut down hospitals and Mohalla Clinics,” he further accused the opposition party
  • Arvind Kejriwal praised AAP’s candidate for New Delhi and said that Somnath Bharti is a hardworking individual who is accessible to the people of Delhi, even at odd hours.
  • Arvind Kejriwal, criticizing the BJP for exploiting government agencies for political gain, said that he was denied insulin shots while incarcerated for a period of fifteen days.
  • To beat the BJP, he claimed that God had freed him from prison. “The nation is under a dictatorship. This despotism must end,” he continued.
